JL Grandma was hybridized by Jim Lamson (the man behind BJ’s Dahlias, a delightfully old school site with very affordable tubers). We bought it in 2023 and it isn’t available this year, so who knows, maybe we’re one of only a handful of gardens growing it. At first we thought it was boring and looked like a bunch of other dahlias in the field but as the season went on it revealed its exquisite, unique form. Super long stems on a tall (5’) but tidy plant; makes big, easy-to-store tubers. Also it’s called JL Grandma, what a delight!
